It was listed as a "while supplies last" item in the catalog but Stampin' Up! has ordered in more stock as this item sold out in less than 3 weeks! You can order this album again on July 12 when Stampin' Up! has received their order.

Retiring colours going fast...

Stamping Up! has announced that there has been more orders of the retiring colours than they thought and they are unable to get more of items in these colours. They are doing their best to fulfill all orders placed before May 31st, 2010 but come June 1st it will be while supplies last (same as the rest of the Last Chance list)
This means that if you want any of the inks, reinkers, paper, or DSP (Designer Series Paper) that has retiring colors in it, you're going to want to get it fast!

If you place an order of $50 or more (before May 30, 2010), I will offer you your choice of Stampin' Write marker (in any colour offered individually) OR your choice of Classic ink refill FREE!

Stampin' Up! just revealed a new & exciting announcement about their upcoming Color Renovation!!

Stampin' Up! is releasing 5 Brand New Colors and bringing back 10 of the PAST/CURRENT In Colors!!!
OH MY I am so excited!!!!

As of July, (with the new catalog), here is what our color collection will be:

These wonderful new color collections will be available to everyone with the new Stampin' Up! catalog in July .... AND if you are a DEMONSTRATOR you get to order them early!!!!!

For me, stamping is ALL ABOUT COLOR... so I am just beyond excited about having NEW COLORS to play with !!! Just look at those gorgeous color collections above! I love how they've reorganized some of the colors and how well they all work together!

Reorganization into 40 Stampin' Up! Core Colors in four color collections (10 colors in each--no longer called color families): Brights, Neutrals, Regals and Subtles

These In Colors (old and current) will now be part of the regular line-up of Core Colors: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, River Rock, Soft Suede, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi

2010-2011 IN COLORS: 5 new In Colors will be introduced with the Idea Book & Catalog July 1 (you can be sure you'll see sneak peeks from me in June). The new In Colors will be available for 2 years! Starting next year, there will be a total of 10 In Colors with five rotating out and five rotating in every year.
So the In Colors from July 2010 will be here until 2012, and the 5 In Colors that come in 2011 will be around until 2013.

HOT NEW ITEMS: Watch for details on new color kits, Stampin' Up! markers for all Core Colors (including former In Colors and the newest colors), expansion of colors for Stampin' Pastels and Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an awesome Color Coach tool that will make color selection better than ever!

Occasions Mini creations......

These cards are ones I have created using items out of the Occasions Mini Catalogue! This catalogue is only around until the end of April.... which is not too far away!

The above three cards all used the same supplies.... just in a different way! The top two are both 4x6 cards and the bottom is a 3x3 mini card all are using the Thoroughly Modern DSP, the Fox & Friends Stamp Set (form the Occasions Mini), Whisper White 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon, Soft Suede cardstock, Melon Mambo cardstock, Bermuda Bay cardstock, and Soft Suede Classic Ink. The small heart was punched out using the smallest heart from the Heart to Heart punch. This was a great card and you can use it for any occasion!

These two cards above use the gorgeous Butterfly Embosslit, using the Big Shot and this great Embosslit, you can create five different sized butterflies... all embossed in different patterns. (the top butterfly card uses one of each of the different butterflies) These cards also use the Circle Circus stamp set to create the custom background - It's like making your own DSP... that will definitely match your card! It also used most of the current In Colors ink colors and cardstock (Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry) as well as Chocolate Chip and Regal Rose cardstock and ink, Chocolate Chip and Regal Rose 5/8 inch grosgrain ribbon.

The above cards were so much fun to create!

Occasions Mini January 5th - April 30th, 2010

There a lot of gorgeous stamp sets in the Occasions Mini, and starting with this Mini catalog, Stampin' Up! will be offering Clear Mount Stamps!!!

These are still the same great rubber stamps that we know and love, but you now have the option of buying them unmounted and using them with acrylic blocks that Stampin' Up! will be now carrying. Look for the letter C under the stamp set name to show you which sets are available for purchase unmounted. The clear mount option is also available for stamp sets in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

These cards use stamp sets available in the Occasions Mini - as you can see from the first card - the Sweet Treat Cups will still be available and there will be another set to use with them! The second card showcases two of the upcoming new sets and the owl on the third card is from one of my favourite sets from the Occasions Mini called Fox & Friends and it features some of the animals currently available in the Decor Elements line.

Starting January 5th, Stampin' Up! will also be carrying a new punch style.
This new punch style locks for ease of storage and has labels on both the top and front so you can always see what punch it is. These new style punches can be stood on end or stacked. We will be carrying co-ordinating edge and corner punches which will allow you to punch a complete border or frame. And, because the Occasions Mini will be valid for the entire length of Sale-a-Bration, anything you order from the Occasions Mini will help you earn FREE Sale-a-Bration sets! It is a gorgeous catalogue! There are quite a few changes to the catalogue - right down to the feel of the cover! There are some great new stamp sets, designer series paper and accessories and of course there are the NEW 09-10 IN COLORS!!! They are gorgeous and I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them! The In Colors come in MARKERS this year!! as well as polka dotted grosgrain ribbon (which is actually more like 2 in 1 ribbon - one side is plain and the other has the dots!). The In Colors also come in an assorted pack of 8 1/2 x 11 TEXTURED cardstock as well as the textured 12x12 cardstock! (currently, only the In Colors come in textured 8 1/2x11 cardstock)

You asked... "What should I get as a new crafter?"

What to buy - always a difficult choice but I've been asked this recently a couple of times and so I will answer this question here for all of you.

If you are a new crafter, you are going to want to start with Stampin' Up!'s Paper Snips
(item # 103579 - $12.95 - p. 189) - these are THE BOMB! I've used many different scissors and these outshine them all!
I would also suggest starting with the basics - adhesives (p. 191), cardstock & ink (p.153-155), paper cutter (SU carries 2 - both are on p. 189) Then you can start purchasing stamp sets.

Getting a stamp set without the proper supplies to use it is no fun and getting home with your brand new stamp set and realizing that you have no paper, ink or adhesive is just depressing...

From there, the sky is the limit! Punches, embellishments, designer series paper, etc... there is no stopping!

How to properly light a photo

Proper lighting is one of the most crucial elements of a good picture, yet is one of the most commonly overlooked. Follow these simple steps to make sure your pics impress.

Step 1 -
Determine the "dominant light source." An easy way to do this is to look at the shadows in the area - they will point away from the dominant light source. If there are multiple light sources, the dominant one will create the darkest shadows.

Step 2 -
Decide what type of shot you're after. Usually you'll be wanting a fully-lit shot of your subject with as little shadow as possible.

Step 3 -
If you're going for a normal, well-lit photo, shoot away from the light source. This will eliminate harsh shadows and make sure your subject is lit up in your pic.

Other Tips -
Don't rely on the flash! Most digital cameras have an automatic flash that's there to "fill" in bad lighting situations. Problem is, it's usually a pretty harsh light, and can wind up reflecting off your subject and making them look washed out. If there's enough light in the area and you're following these steps, turn the flash off!
If you're outside during the day, the dominant light source is easy to find - not much is going to outshine that big light in the sky. Shoot away from the sun whenever possible.
Don't stifle your creativity. Odds are you've got over a hundred shots to waste on that camera of yours - use them. This is simply how to properly light a photo - sometimes improper shots can accidentally wow everyone with your artistic ability!

This is one of the many cards I made as Thank you's for all the gals who placed an order at my open house. This one uses the Raspberry Tart DSP, white grosgrain ribbon dyed with the Rose Red ink pad and the stamp is from the set - Taking Care of Business.

First Stamp Club technique night

Well, last night I held my first club technique night - only one of my ladies' had to miss it and so it was a full house! We made a gorgeous card (actually out of the SAB brochure!) and used the Polka Dot Punches set, the ribbon bundle & the Delicate Dots Designer Paper all from Sale-a-Bration!

We learned the Poppin' Pastels technique last night and the ladies all loved it! One of the gals just got the Stampin' Pastels for Christmas so was excited to learn ways to use them! It was so neat to see how each of them made their card slightly different than my sample and yet we all used the same supplies (for the most part! We did raid my stampin' space for punches - the ladies wanted to use the scallop edge punch and who can blame them!! )

Valentine's class review

Well, the Valentine's class was a blast - we had a nice small group which turned out well as they all got quite into the decorating part and class was a bit extended!! I took photos of the finished mailboxes and they are all so lovely and each so unique.

It is definitely a hit though and one that I will be offering again next year for those of you who missed this one!

Valentine's Class

Valentine's Day is almost here - are you ready for it!?

On Feb 8th, 2009 from 3-5pm I have a valentine's class where we will decorate/alter a metal mailbox and make 4 3x3 cards. The cost for the class is $20 and this includes all supplies! You just need to bring yourself and your creativity!

The photo is a mailbox I created last year for my husband. This is only to give you an idea of what we are decorating - the end result may e very different!

Some ideas on how to use the mailbox -
use it as a gift box and place a gift inside.
Start a new tradition and use it as a place where you can leave little notes for your loved ones through out the year.
Reuse it each year as the place where you place a small Valentine's treat for your loved one.

As you are well aware, paper crafting is a very popular market and there is always a need for more crafty ladies to demonstrate Stampin' Up! products! There are lots of different types of Demonstrators too! While everyone carries the same designation as 'Demonstrator' with Stampin' Up!, there are many different reasons people join and demonstrate the products. You may find you identify with one of these, or all of them, such as:
Hobby Demonstrator: I heard a statistic once that said that the majority of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators are 'hobby demos'. A Hobby Demonstrator is someone who basically purchases the starter kit, and uses the discount for her own purchases and occasionally for family and friends who might ask about it. She is not a demonstrator to earn money for her family, and simply loves the products and wants the discount.

Short-Term Demonstrator: These crafty ladies sign up for the starter kit, and demonstrate for a pre-determined length of time. Their goal is often to earn enough money on the side to finance a major purchase, help her family through a rough financial time, or to fill the gap between employment periods. She may or may not continue as a demonstrator after this time period is through, and she can join for as little as a few months if she chooses.

Casual Business Demonstrator: A Business Demonstrator is someone who demonstrates to make a bit of cash on the side or to earn her stamp sets for free or at a major discount. She might have a club that meets her quarterly minimums, and might do the occasional workshop, but only chooses to devote one or two nights a month to her demonstrating.

Career Demonstrator: This is a Demonstrator who runs several clubs a month, and several events. She has an active downline, and works to help them succeed. Her goal is to earn a significant income from stamping, and while she still may have a 9-5 job outside of stamping, she also does workshops and classes for her customers on a regular basis, as well as attends SU! events. She plans to stay a demonstrator long-term, and wants to move up the career ladder.

As you can guess, there are other goals to being a demonstrator, and you might have some specific ones yourself! There is a place for you, and you will find folks with similar goals as well!
Some facts about joining: There are no order minimums and no 'minimum' order to qualify for the 20% discount. There is no requirement to do workshops and you can be your own hostess. You do not carry inventory so you can quit whenever you want... !
When you sign up with me, you will become a part of my team and also a part of the Sea to Sky Stampers team and the Colourful Impressions team. These are a wacky, fun, and very loving group of ladies who fall into all the above groups themselves. These groups have bi-monthly meetings on alternate months. At these meetings we talk 'shop, chat about our businesses, discuss strategies and of course, STAMP!

To me, one of the greatest things I can do in this business is helping my downline grow their own businesses. To do that, I try to speak with each of my downline at least once a month to help them grow their business, and I also run incentive programs, to help them succeed.
